Knowledge Economy

I tend not to think of the interrelationship between technology and human in the framework of determinism after the week’s discussion. Although determinism is the easiest way in interpreting relationships that remain in daily discourses, it is in many cases not a very considerate way. I preferred social construction theory that incorporates the role of human, and collective cultures.

This week’s readings seem to bring my thoughts a step further. I like the implication of the knowledge-base third wave economy. It is no longer an age of mass production, but an age of reloaded individuality. It is an age that knowledge is money and controller. To interpret the world and economy evolution in terms of the power of the knowledge is an attempt to strike a balance between determinism and social construction theory. Knowledge is a collection of humanity, technology, development, and creations. Knowledge hints the human agency in the development of society.
